Exclusive: CM Bujdar says, 'No one can remove me unless the Prime Minister is Imran, the cabinet will not trust me'



LAHORE (Dunya News) - Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bujdar has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted to give the highest political status to an honest person from the backward region of Punjab.

In his first interaction with Kamran Shahid on Dunya News in his first interview after being elected chief minister, he said that Prime Minister Imran's priority is to provide relief to the poor. He says that our acting speaks about our character. "The Prime Minister believes in me and my government's one year performance is in front of everyone," she said.

Chief Minister Punjab, speaking of his background, said that he had a degree in Political Science and studied law from Bahauddin Zakaria University Multana. He said, "I have served as Tehsil Nazim in two successive terms and have never missed an administrative course and it has helped me a lot today."

The Chief Minister said he had also traveled to the United States with the invitation of the State Department to participate in the course "to achieve grassroots democracy".

He said that I deal with the problems of myself every day and the Prime Minister never stops us except to say that we will not tolerate poverty, justice and corruption without telling us. CM said I read all the files myself and there are only two internal files pending at this date.

He said that everyone in Punjab performs the duties prescribed by law and that "I do not interrupt or interfere with my work." He said that the CM Punjab protocol was reduced to only one in 20 cars.

The CM said he made all the decisions with the Prime Minister's guidance. "If I have confidence in the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, no one can remove me," he said. He says that I reduced my security protocol by 65 percent.

He said that I do not claim that everything is ok in Punjab but DPO and RPO are being recruited in merit. He said that the Punjab Police must bring about a positive change in their attitude. He said there is no political intervention in the police and adding that reforms are being introduced in the police department.

Chief Minister Punjab has said that a 20% increase in the crime rate published in the media is not true. He said the fact is that there is more registration for cases as the Punjab government has simplified the process. "Technology-based interventions are underway in the police, and ministries, online monitoring, safe city projects are part of our efforts," he said.

The CM said police had been instructed to work with merit and that a clear change would be visible in the coming days.

He said the salaries of the chief minister and cabinet members were reduced by 15%. The Orange Line project will be completed later this year at all costs, CM said.

He said that previous governments have not concentrated on public sector hospitals but we are building nine new hospitals. He said public sector hospitals are being provided free medicines in case of emergency.

Talking about the southern Punjab province, the Chief Minister said that we do not have two-thirds majority in Punjab and progress is being made on the matter.

He said that the Punjab government was focusing on dengue and HIV outbreak and new hospitals were being constructed on the basis of public private partnership.

Talking about the progress of the Punjab government in education, he said that in the afternoon, e-transfer to justice school, education department was among our revolutionary steps.

He said that recently HEC Head has been appointed and 4 vacancies of VC have been filled. He said that six new universities are being built in Punjab and our main focus is on technical education.
